We can’t wait to see you on June 1 at the Third Annual North Texas Pride event!

Q: What is the difference between the day ticket and night ticket?

A: The family-friendly festival and vendor fair is free so a ticket is not required (2-6pm). A ticket IS required to enter the evening party at the Rooftop Spot between 6 – 11 p.m. Tickets cost $20 at the door or $15 in advance. Advance ticket holders also get one free adult beverage.

 

Q: Is Urban Rio hosting this event?

A: No, Urban Rio is separate from the pride party. There is a private entrance for Pride patrons located at 1000 14th Street.

 

Q: Is there parking?

A: Street parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be aware of any posted parking restrictions. We advise taking DART rail to downtown Plano.

 

Q: Will there be food?

A: Yes, a food truck will be on-site at the vendor fair and a small selection of food items will be available for purchase at Rooftop. Drink specials will also be available.

 

Q: Is the event inside or out?

A: The vendor fair is entirely outside. The evening party at Rooftop is both inside and outside.

 

Q: What is the dress code?

A: Come as you are or how you feel most comfortable.

 

Q: What if I purchased a ticket and t-shirt online and cannot attend?

A: Tickets are non-refundable. We will make arrangements to get the t-shirt to you. You can also send someone in your place to attend and pick up the shirt BUT they MUST have the ticket print-out with them.

 

Q: Will there be Pride T-Shirts for sale?

A: You bet! T-shirts will be available for sale in white or black.

Mayor LaRosiliere to Stop By North Texas Pride

LaRosilierePlano Mayor Harry LaRosiliere is planning to stop by this year’s Pride event between 3-4 p.m. on June 1 at 1236 J. Avenue in downtown Plano. LaRosiliere has been a solid supporter of the LGBT community since he served on Plano’s city council. This is an excellent opportunity to meet and mingle with the new mayor.

The family-friendly festival and vendor fair runs from 2-6 p.m. and is free to the public. The evening party runs from 6-11 p.m. one block away at The Rooftop Spot above Urban Rio. Advance tickets are on sale for $15 (includes one free drink). Urban Rio is not associated with Pride 2013.

Welcome to the official website of North Texas Gay Pride! Residents, businesses and non-profits will join together in celebration of the third annual “come as you are” event on June 1 in downtown Plano. We hope you’ll join us and Honorary Chair, Plano Mayor Phil Dyer, in the spirit of community unity.

Family Festival and Vendor Fair (2 – 6 p.m.) 

Mingle with friends and family on the grounds of the American Legion, located at 1236 J. Ave. Activities will include face painting, a bounce house, food & beverage and the opportunity to meet plenty of gay-friendly businesses and non-profit organizations. The festival is free. 

PRIDE PARTY (6 – 11 p.m.)

The party continues one block north at the Rooftop Spot above Urban Rio, located at 1000 14th St. This indoor/outdoor roof party will feature door prizes, a grand prize raffle (iPad Mini), DJ Fierce, drink specials and plenty of surprises! Urban Rio is not associated with the pride function.

Purchase discounted tickets in advance and get one complementary cocktail (21 and over to drink) per person.

A North Texas Pride First! A limited number of 2013 Pride shirts will be available for purchase at the festival and party for $15.

Plano Mayor Helps Kick-Off North Texas Pride 2013

North Texas Gay Pride Launch Party

Mayor Phil Dyer (Plano) is honorary chair of the 3rd Annual North Texas Pride Festival and Party.

Organizers of North Texas Pride gathered with Plano Mayor Phil Dyer, local businesses and community supporters to announce plans for the Third Annual “Come as You Are” community celebration, slated for June 1 in Plano.

The launch party was hosted at the home of longtime Plano resident and businessman, Jay Forte. Dyer is the event’s honorary chairperson.

“I’m honored to be a part of this year’s pride event, and it has been a privilege getting to know you,” said Dyer. “It is great to be a part of history.”

Morris Garcia, the event’s co-chair, gave attendees a presentation about the non-profit’s three-year history and mission, which is to advocate unity, equality, and community integration for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and allies (LGBTA) through forums and events that promote pride and self-acceptance, education and awareness, and social interaction.

On June 1, the family-friendly festival and vendor fair kicks off on grounds of the American Legion in Plano from 2 – 6 p.m. A dance party and celebration follows at the Rooftop Event Spot in downtown Plano, featuring DJ Fierce, door prizes, party favors and the signature North Texas PRIDE 2013 T-shirt.

The festival is free of charge. Tickets to the evening celebration go on-sale on April 2. Proceeds benefit C.U.R.E., a local non-profit that brings awareness and education about HIV/AIDS in North Texas.

“I was overjoyed to see the support and encouragement come from the Mayor of Plano, businesses and individuals who believe in our mission of advancing unity and community integration,” said Co-Chair J.J. McCormick. “Plano, and the North Texas community as a whole, has come so far.”

Plano mayoral candidates Henry LaRosiliere and Fred Moses were invited to the launch event. LaRosiliere was in attendance.
